  • EGG AVIYAL ( mutta aviyal ) is a popular dish in Trivandrum
  •  Few days back I had some eggs and the drumsticks with me and suddenly I remembered about this dish .
  • The coconut masala with the flavour of fresh curry leaves and coconut oil enhanced the flavour.
  • So here is the recipe .
  • rush to the kitchen and try this yummy dish . !!!

  • boiled egg 4 to 5
  • potato 1 large
  • onion 1 large
  • drumstick 1
  • haldi powder 1 tsp
  • salt
  • grated coconut 3/4 cup
  • Jeera 1 tsp
  • garlic cloves 3- 4
  • green chillies 3-4
  • curry leaves 2-3 sprigs
  • coconut oil 2 tsp
  • Cut the boiled egg in four pieces (length wise) and keep aside
  • Cook potato , onion , and drumsticks adding haldi and salt .
  • Sprinkle some water .cover and cook in low flame till done.
  • Meanwhile grind coconut , green chillies , jeera ,garlic a bit coarsely like you usually grind for aviyal
  • no need of adding water while grinding...
  • add this coconut mix to the cooked veggies ....
  • cover n cook for few more minutes till the masala nicely blends with the veggies .
  • now lastly add the cut egg pieces... mix gently ..
  • cook covered for a few more minutes and then turn off the flame..
  • now crush the curry leaves on your palm ( thereby inducing the fresh flavour of curry leaves) .
  • spread this curry leaves on the aviyal . mix gently.
  • pour coconut oil on top .
  • the tasty egg aviyal ( mutta aviyal ) is ready .
